ALCOHOL IS NOW FOR SALE at Emerald Hills. We have a comprehensive and competitively priced range of Central Otago wines from vineyards who we know personally are producing superior products, and a range of beer also. Please be aware we are the only off licence in Hyde.
CELL PHONE COVERAGE: We have good coverage at Emerald Hills for both the Telecom and Vodofone networks. Be aware that parts of Central Otago, particularly on the Rail Trail, have very patchy reception.
BIKES: These can be safely stored in the garage overnight, or on the bike rack provided.
BAGGAGE DELIVERY: If you have arranged this service through one of the Rail Trail operators, bags are generally delivered to the guesthouse front verandah before 4pm. Check the timing with your individual service provider. Please leave bags on the guesthouse verandah again by 9am the next morning to be picked up again.
HORSES: Emerald Hills welcomes horses and riders who are riding the Rail Trail to use our well fenced horse paddock. There is no charge but please ensure that this is booked in advance and that we are aware of your requirements as we do graze it ourselves.
YOUR HOSTS: We do not live on the premises, and when guests arrive straight off the Rail Trail at the back of the property, they are directed by a welcome note to make themselves at home, have a cup of tea and some baking, and relax and enjoy their stay!
Our contact phone numbers are on prominant display, as is the room allocation for the evening.
We call over to meet our guests later in the day, and often stay for a while to chat. We enjoy hearing about where people live and how they have found the Rail Trail.
FARM TOURS: Get out amongst the tussock and rocks. Fabulous views looking over the whole valley and back over the Rail Trail. Get to know a little history and an insight into farming before you head out on the Rail Trail for the day, or maybe in the afternoon when you come off the Rail Trail. Tailored to suit individual requirements and by prior arrangment only. Price on asking.
HYDE TOWNSHIP: Please be aware that at this time there are no casual evening eating places in Hyde, or takeaways, dairy's or shops of any kind so any food requirements will need to brought in from elsewhere.
WINTER: We are closed for June, July and August!
